Series the character is from: Kobato Point in canon they're being taken from: End of chapter 9, right after getting the bottle from Ioryogi Brief background: Kobato's first appearance is something akin to a pep talk that she is receiving from her stuffed dog like mentor, Ioryogi, which reveals quite a few things. One is that Kobato has a wish. That wish is to go somewhere, although were exactly this is has yet to be revealed. Another is that, in order to fulfill this wish, she must fill up a bottle with wounded hearts she is going to collect. And the last is that she has yet to acquire this bottle, the only way she can get being that she pass a test of "common sense" that Ioryogi will judge. These tests are varied in content, one being to act naturally in the park while another is what one should do during New Years or Hanami, but all have the shared goal of testing Kobato's knowledge of acting common. ...Most of them also all have the shared trait of Kobato failing them. She genuinely tries to end the situation in a way that is best for all involved... which often leads to things becoming even worse then how they started and 9 out of ten times Ioryogi is yelling at her by day's end. Still, after a frenzied day of wandering all around in order to find Ioryogi a free sample of nice cold beer, he decides that she has finally passed her test and gives her the jar that she needs. It's now that her journey begins on the path towards the place that she wishes to go. Personality: Kobato is a girl who has very little "common sense". When you think of acting naturally in a park, you think of playing ball, talking with friends or maybe feeding the birds, right? Kobato, however, thinks of digging a newspaper from the trash and taking a nap on a nearby bench. Not that it's all that peculiar for her to think that's normal, considering nearly everything she knows about the world around her she learned from magazines and television programs. This doesn't bode well for her, considering Ioryogi's tests of common sense are essential to her fulfilling her wish, but she still tries her best! Even if she fails for the day and receives 0 points, she always promises herself that she's "going to try really, really hard". Kobato is extremely cheerful and dedicated to her wish, as well as to making people happy. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and finds it hard to understand when people do things that can hurt other people, believing that people should consider the effects that their actions have on EVERYONE, not just themselves. In fact, it seems that every chance she gets she is trying to help someone who is over burdened or in need of some kind of assistant, going so far as to take up jobs as a cake seller, temporary waitress and other small tasks to help those she meets. Despite not knowing much, Kobato goes about everything at full throttle, giving 100% to every job or test she is given. This often leads to her running off to places a bit too fast, which... generally ends with her flat on her face one way or another. She's pretty clumsy that way. | |||||||||
